Before the mid-19th-century church mergers, the original parish church for Knightwick stood on a small hill and was dedicated to St. Mary. It was a medieval black-and-white timbered structure.

In 1855–1856, a brand new parish church was built near Knightsford Bridge to serve the newly merged parishes of Knightwick and Doddenham. This new building was also dedicated to St Mary (or St Mary the Virgin).

Consequently, the original church in Knightwick was pulled down around 1879.

The old site of the original 1850 St Mary's Church was repurposed in 1879 to build a mortuary chapel for the local cemetery. When the newer Knightsford Bridge church was declared redundant and sold off, the 1879 mortuary chapel was reopened and expanded to function as the village's active parish place of worship.

St Andrew's Church could be found, just up the bank to Easinghope from the Farm at Doddenham.

This lovely watercolour has Dodenham (spelt the old way) (Knightwick) (sqd) Thos: Rickards at the bottom of it. I imagine it to mean that it was painted by Thomas Rickards. Many thanks to my friend Peter Walker from Knightwick for this scan.
