KNIGHTWICK SANATORIUM.

X-Ray Plant
The Institution possesses an efficient apparatus provided in 1937 out of money given by the Thos. Corbett Charity. Although 12 years old it is quiet efficient and meets our needs. The apparatus is in charge of Dr Cronin who uses it daily.

[Taken from 'History of the Institution from its opening in 1902, to the date of its transference to the Ministry of Health, on the 5th July 1948'.

R C CRONIN MB, CHB Dr Ronald Cronin, formerly consultant chest physician to the Mid-Worcestershire group of hospitals, died on 21 August. He was 61. Ronald Cornelius Cronin was born at Bath on 4th September, 1917 and moved to the West Midlands when he entered Birmingham Medical School in 1934. He qualified with honours in 1940. After house appointments he went to live at Whitbourne, Worcester, in 1948; and was medical superintendent of Knightwick Sanatorium until it closed in 1963. He then continued to work as consultant chest physician to the Mid-Worcestershire group of hospitals until January of this year.
For several years he represented the Bromsgrove and Worcester Division of the BMA at Annual Meetings, and at one time he was chairman of the division. Dr Cronin was a highly respected chest physician, and took endless trouble in sorting allergic problems. Many patients in the area will miss him. His hobbies were industrial archaeology, steam trains, and canal navigation. He was also a member of the Worcestershire Motor Club and won several trophies in their rallies. He died at the end of an illness he had borne bravely for three and a half years, and is survived by Valerie, his second wife, and by three sons and two daughters of his first marriage. CAP, MW.
