Back row: Graham Holland, John Barber, Philip Osman. Graham had some time in the Territorial Army, and this may well have been taken on one of their training trips in Wales. Graham told me of the story where he was on watch at night, but fell asleep as he was so exhausted. The consequences were that when he awoke he found that his rifle had been taken and he was reprimanded. If it had been a real event and not a training exercise everyone would have either been captured or killed! A lesson to be remembered by him and the others. John Foot was our Youth Club leader and mentor at Knightwick. He took over just the boys in the village, and gave up his time to look after us all, at the green shed in Mary Walker's garden, at the Old Rectory, every Friday night.

Bromyard Rifle Club Plans - Berrows Worcester Journal - 6th March, 1969. [Colourised and AI of black & white photo] Trevor Horsefield [standing behind Graham] was my Chemistry teacher, at Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School, Bromyard. My brother Graham loved shooting .22 rifles and went on to become the captain at the rifle club in later years. He shot many times at Bisley in Brookwood, Surrey, and won many competitions during his time shooting for the club.

I was a member of Leominster Golf Club in the early 1970's and used to go there with Eddie Johnson from Bromyard, Eddie was my girlfriend Jane Johnson's, father. He also worked at Carmichael's Fire & Bulk in Worcester, where I was an electrician on the big airport crash-tenders, and many of the other vehicles that were produced there. Many years later my brother Graham decided to take up golf with his friend Graham Povey. Eventually in 1997 my brother Graham became one of the many captains of Leominster Golf Club, which I thought was an amazing achievement. |
